CommunityGuidelines

Protecting the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of every person on Unmuted.

Last updated: April 2025
Our Core Principle

Unmuted exists to amplify human voices — not to silence them. Our guidelines are not restrictions on expression; they are protections for the people doing the expressing.

What We Welcome
  • Personal stories from any background, culture, religion, or identity
  • Honest accounts of struggle, pain, trauma, recovery, and joy
  • Criticism of institutions and public figures based on factual experience
  • Diverse opinions shared with respect for the humanity of others
  • Questions, reflections, and incomplete thoughts — you don’t need to have all the answers
What We Do Not Allow
  • Content that targets, harasses, or demeans any individual or group
  • Hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin
  • Deliberate misinformation presented as personal experience
  • Content that endangers children or exploits minors in any way
  • Graphic violence for the purpose of shock or glorification
  • Promotion of self-harm or suicide as a solution
  • Spam, advertisements, or commercially motivated content
Moderation

All content is reviewed by trained human moderators with a combination of automated screening and manual review. Moderation decisions can be appealed by contacting [email protected] within 14 days.

The Spirit of These Guidelines

If something you want to share is legal, honest, and not designed to harm another person, it almost certainly has a home here. When in doubt, reach out to us.
